Japanese Gardens
Gardens that are Japanese in style can be found normally on homes, neighborhood, parks or other buildings or landmarks like temples and old castles. These types of gardens were developed through the influence of the Chinese gardens which also have their own style and character.
The Japanese are considered as one of the most creative and best designers because they are really particular with the designs and decorations that they use. But their designs are really simple thus it is characterized by a clean and statement which is unique. The Japanese garden is perceived and as a representation of nature together with the artistic feeling. The ornaments and decorations give more character and meaning to the idea of the design. The mosses give more texture and enlightenment. The Japanese tone lanterns which are also used give more emphasis to the traditions and spiritual effect. The stones, rocks and sand provide the place to meditate for reflection of the individual. Thus, it is truly for the people to be able to have the opportunity to relax.
Japanese garden styles are classified into three. The Tsukiyama type, Karensansui type and lastly, the Chaniwa type. The Tsukiyama is considered as the most common type. The word Tsukiyama in the English context is defined as a mountain that is constructed. In the meaning itself, you can say that this is mainly composed of hills and contours. A temple or a traditional Japanese house can also be constructed together with a stream or a pond which has different plants. This type of garden can be seen from an angle or point of view where it can be easily seen.
The next type is the Karensansui which means a dry garden or rock garden. They are most famous in the West part of Japan. Most people who use this type are those who practice and believe in the principles of Zen Buddhism. This garden is characterized by a minimum presence or vegetation or no vegetation. It is mainly consists of rocks and sand. The rocks are symbolism of the different islands of Japan while the sand is the symbolism of the sea. If the Tsukiyama is seen from different angles, Karesnsansui can only be seen from one angle.
The last type is the Chaniwa garden. This design started from the 14th century. It is comprised by a path made of stones that directs to a tea room. The tea room is referred to as the Chaniwa. It also has water basins made from stones where the visitors can wash before they join the tea ceremony. This type makes the visitors feel more relaxed, calm and have peace while they are staying in the place. That is why this type is mostly used for meditation purposes and it is not that open to the public.
Japanese gardens are truly good places to experience peace and solitude. And it is a real embodiment of the Japanese culture. You will be one with nature while seeing and staying at these gardens.
