Having a garden in your yard adds up to the beauty of your surroundings. It can also make you relax when you see the plants and flowers growing and it can also help you when you consider it as a hobby to fix your garden. Instead of doing nothing, you can make your time useful and fruitful.

The design of your garden can be very simple or you can spend for it if you want to really flaunt it. During the ancient times, there are not many materials available unlike today that there are many things and materials which can be used to design your garden.

There are two basic types of garden design. There is the formal type and the informal type. There are only slight differences with the two groups that is why it is a little hard to figure out their distinct characteristic from each other. Formal garden design is more specific with the geometric patterns while informal garden design is more concerned with geometric patterns as anathema (opposing to) and goes for a more natural look.

Under the formal type is the Oriental Garden design and Paradise Garden design. The Oriental garden design may seem to be an informal one but it is indeed a very formal design. Everything that is used in this type is meaningful and symbolical. It signifies beauty and elegance. There is a very unique and distinct use of the different plants, water and stones. There must be a balance with the usage of the said materials so that everything will be in proportion. While the Paradise Garden design is designed to please the five senses of man. It is greatly influences by the old tradition which is Islamic. The flowers that smell sweet will suit the nose, the sound of the streams and/or waterfalls flowing with water will be pleasing to the ears. The colors which are brightly illuminated will be for the eyes. The presence of the berries and other fruits is to satisfy man’s tongue. And for the sense of touch to be pleased, here is the texture of the plants and other stones present.

Under the informal garden designs are the Woodland garden design, container garden design and wildflower design. The woodland garden design is characterized by the canopy of trees. There will be woodland which is artificial. The spaces which are often can be populated with plants or ferns to shade the area. There will also be a small pond or stream which adds to the beauty of the garden. The container garden got its name from where the plants and flowers are placed, containers. Instead of using flowerbeds or pots, large vases which are made from concrete can be used. This is a space saver so it is beneficial to those who have a limited or small space available. Another is the wildflower garden which is mainly composed of wildflowers. They can be allowed to grow in a mixed arrangement. You can use a fence which is made form vinyl to separate the arrangement from the lawn.
